Mendy had taken his former club to an employment tribunal over £11m of outstanding payments
Mendy had taken his former club to an employment tribunal over £11m of outstanding paymentsMendy went to an employment tribunal claiming the Premier League champions had wrongly stopped paying his salary when he was charged with four counts of rape in 2021.
The club’s lawyers said Mendy did not receive his £500,000 per month wages because he “was not ready and able to perform his duties… as a consequence of his own conduct”, as he was held before his trial for breaching bail conditions.
Dunlop outlined that while Mendy was not in custody, he was “ready and willing” to work and only “prevented from doing” so for reasons “unavoidable or involuntary on his part”., Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez lent Mendy money while his case was ongoing as he “very quickly ran out of money”, the tribunal heard.
