BERKELEY — A 23-year-old woman was arrested in the fatal stabbing Sunday of another woman, the city’s first homicide of the year, according to authorities and jail records.The stabbing was reported about 2:45 p.m. Sunday at an apartment building in the 1300 block of University Avenue, about 10 blocks west of UC Berkeley.
The woman stabbed was declared dead at the scene, authorities said. The suspect was arrested in the area, police said.“According to jail records, the suspect was booked on suspicion of first degree murder. She is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday. Police are continuing to investigate the killing. Police spokesperson Officer Jessica Perry said no other suspects are believed to be at large and there is no continuing danger to the public.
