We should get another opportunity to see them tonight
The incredible Northern Lights were spotted across Lancashire skies last night, as locals rushed to take pictures.
Those who missed the breath taking views yesterday evening, have no fear, because you may get the opportunity to spot them again tonight. The Met Office has said that they are 'likely' to be visible again this evening .In a tweet shared just before 6.30pm last night, the Met Office said: "The Aurora Borealis may be visible as far south as central England tonight where skies remain clear. The Northern Lights are also likely to be seen again on Monday night.
The beautiful 'curtains' of light are then caused by the lines of force in the Earth’s magnetic field. Countries closer to the Arctic Circle are often best associated with the spectacle. "The lights generally extend from 50 miles to as high as 400 miles above the Earth's surface...The best conditions to view the lights are when the sky is dark and clear of any clouds.
