Filipinos looking for better employment opportunities increased in September, according to the results of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The data showed while the number of unemployed Filipinos decreased to 1.89 million in September 2024, the number of underemployed Filipinos increased to 5.

Based on the data, Filipinos looking for better employment opportunities increased by 831,000 from the 5.11 million posted in September 2023. Visible underemployed are Filipinos who are working less than 40 hours a week. Invisible underemployed is the category for those Pinoys who, despite working 40 hours a week or more, still desire more hours of work to increase their incomes.
Meanwhile, the number of employed persons in September 2024 was recorded at 49.87 million. This was higher than the number of employed persons of 47.67 million in September 2023 and 49.15 million in August 2024.
