Bexar County's insurer has agreed to pay nearly $400,000 to settle a lawsuit filed by a former jail lieutenant who was fired after posting social-media images of herself in an a mob that overran the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, records show. Roxanne Mathai attended a rally in Washington , D.C. , earlier that day in support of then-President Donald Trump . She took selfies and recorded video as the crowd marched to the Capitol.

” The sheriff, a Democrat, said his office would investigate and that his decision on Mathai’s future would be based on her conduct on Jan. 6, not her support of Trump. “If she just stood by while first responders were assaulted, it would be more than just troubling, it would be downright infuriating,” Salazar said at the time. “It makes you mad — if someone that wears a uniform just stood there, watched and took pictures.
