While it remains to be seen exactly what draws Humphrey back to his old home in Saint Marie, he is set to tackle a perplexing case in the finale.
The Shipton Abbott police team investigates a burglary that seemingly points to local criminal Atticus Styles , only for the forensic evidence to single out someone else entirely. Humphrey has to solve what looks like an impossible mystery because the other suspect, Hayley Collins , was in a jail cell being watched by PC Kelby Hartford at the time of the crime.
As he tries to wrap his mind around the case, Humphrey remains consumed with his doubts about life in Shipton Abbott with Martha .
