The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources said it detected red ride in different areas in Bohol, Samar, Zamboanga del Sur, and Surigao del Sur. | JMangaluzINQ

“Shellfishes collected and tested from coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; San Pedro Bay in Samar; Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur; and Lianga Bay in Surigao del Sur are still positive for Paralytic Shellfish Poison or toxic red tide that is beyond the regulatory limit,” said BFAR in a statement.According to the bureau, shellfish and acetes or alamang from the area are not safe for human consumption.

The BFAR also cautioned people from these areas not to harvest, buy, sell or eat shellfish and alamang due to red tide toxins.
