The Beverly Hills 90210 remake has created some off-screen drama of its own as the showrunner and a number of senior writers have quit.
Patrick Sean Smith and the writers reportedly left because two of the show’s lead actresses started to meddle with the creative side of the six-episode series, though none of the leavers have confirmed their exact reason. The reboot, which will be called BH90210, is due to air in the US on Fox on 7 August, with original cast members Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling and Brian Austin Green all involved in the reunion.
Riverdale actor Luke Perry was also set to rejoin his former cast members before his sad death earlier this year. Perry, 52, had kept in close contact with a number of his 90210 cohorts, and Shannen Doherty was in contact with him just days before he passed away.
