The Bureau of Immigration main office announced that it is operating on a skeleton workforce due to several road closures ahead of president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s inauguration.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente made the announcement following the road closures and traffic rerouting imposed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority starting Sunday, June 26 as part of the security measures for Marcos’ inauguration. "The venue for the inauguration is less than 3 kilometers from the BI Main office,” Morente said in an advisory released on Monday.He said that the directive is also in pursuant to the Civil Service Commission’s memorandum allowing the adoption of alternative work arrangements.

Morente, however, assured that the immigration services will remain continuous despite the adjustment schedule.“However, the public may also consider going to any of our numerous offices nationwide for their immigration transactions to avoid the possible traffic congestion in the area,” he added.More than 18,000 public safety and security forcesto secure the areas around the National Museum and Malacañang ahead of the inauguration.
