Bianca Pagdanganan and Dottie Ardina made their moves in the second round to vault into a share of 11th going to the final push of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Saturday in Rogers, Arkansas.
Pagdanganan fired a bogey-free six-under 65 while Ardina shot an eagle-aided 66 to leap by 33 and 12 places, respectively, and get a legit shot at a Top 10 finish in the 54-hole event.
With their eight-under 134 cards, the Philippine duo stood six shots behind Korean rookie Hae Ran Ryu, who’s at 128 after turning in a second straight 64. Pagdanganan and Ardina look to finish strong to boost their bids to retain their LPGA cards next season. Fil-Japanese Yuka Saso, who started the competition with a 65 and a share of second spot, struggled with a 70 in a round marred by a triple-bogey on No. 6 and a bogey on No. 13. Saso slipped to joint 18th at 135.
Meanwhile, Ryu moved into good position to score her LPGA breakthrough win as she pushed her lead to two strokes against Yuna Nishimura and Hannah Green, who carried 130s after Round 2 outputs of 64 and 65, respectively.
