US President Joe Biden visited the Lobito Port terminal in Angola and met with the presidents of Angola , the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia , and Tanzania. The Lobito Corridor is a planned rail route linking Angola with the copper regions of Zambia and the DRC. Trafigura and mining project Kamoa-Kakula have committed to transport minerals via the Lobito Atlantic Railway for at least six years.
The Lobito route would reduce transit times from the copper regions to the port to 8 days, compared with 25 days by road to Durban, South Africa. Biden is expected to announce further financing for projects along the Lobito rail corridor
