More than 820,000 households claiming older-style legacy benefits will be asked to make the move over to Universal Credit from next week
There's set to be a huge change for people claiming certain benefits from next week – as many more claimants will be moved over to a new system. More than 820,000 households claiming legacy-style benefits will be asked to make the switch to Universal Credit, starting in September.
This is part of a managed migration by the UK government which started in November 2022 after a successful pilot in 2019. The Department for Work and Pensions will begin contacting claimants, asking them to make the switch.This will tell you what you need to do next. How many people will be affected? More than 820,000 households on these benefits will be affected by this change.The DWP has already sent out nearly 1.14 million 'migration notice' letters so far.
