County is in negotiations to purchase property for mental health care and substance abuse treatment infrastructure
For decades, thousands of kids have attended camps and retreats at Vista's Green Oak Ranch, but that could change with the possible sale of the property to the county, which hopes to use it as a 'regional campus for healing' that would offer 'sober housing and behavioral health treatment.
Green Oak Ministries has operated a Christian drug and alcohol recovery program for men on the property since the late 1990s, and that work, which will be consolidated on a 28-acre parcel that is not for sale, will continue. Exactly how it will continue remains an open question.
