Around 900,000 elderly pensioners in Scotland are expected to miss out on the annual £300 payment.
A plumber is offering free boiler care to elderly Scots amid fears OAPs will "freeze to death" without the winter fuel payment this year.
Jon, from Edinburgh, told the Record: "To take this payment away from pensioners who will already be struggling with their heating bills is disgraceful. It'll be elders who are on the breadline who feel the full impact of this cut. "People will be relying on that £300 and they're not going to get it. If you divide that £300 into every day of the year, it's nothing really, is it?
Top news stories today Some 53 MPs - including seven ministers - had no vote recorded. Edinburgh, Fife and Glasgow have the most amount of pensioners who will be hit by the cut.
