A P2,000 monthly government subsidy for parents of children with disabilities (CWD) has been proposed in the Lower House.
The bill cites a study conducted by the United Nations Children’s Fund in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development which showed that raising a CWD costs 40 to 80 percent higher than households with children without disabilities
House Bill 6743 covers CWD aged 21 years old and below with a physical or mental impairment. It also mandates the creation of a database of all CWD.The provision was proposed by Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte, Benguet Representative Eric Yap, ACT-CIS Partylist Representatives Edvic Yap and Jeffrey Soriano.
