The two-time Oscar winner expressed her ire after the publication published the track list for her third studio album, ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’: “Fuck rolling stone.”
After teasing new music for the last week, the two-time Oscar winner released the cover and title for her album in an Instagram post on Monday. “‘HIT ME HARD AND SOFT’ MY THIRD ALBUMMMMMMMMMMMMM COMES OUT MAY 17THHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHH,” wrote the “What Was I Made For?” singer. The album’s cover art features Eilish underwater, sinking below a white door floating near the surface. “So crazy to be writing this right now i’m nervyyyyy & exciteddd,” she continued.
In an interview with Billboard, Eilish spoke out about the harm of overconsumption in the music industry, specifically calling out the “wasteful” ways the “biggest artists in the world” repackage their vinyls, often selling several different limited editions in pursuit of more sales and the top spot on the charts. Many immediately speculated that Eilish was calling out special billionaire Taylor Swift, but the “Happier Than Ever” singer quickly took to Instagram to dispel that notion.
