Bimini’s England-inspired drag was designed by Milli Welch, but it’s not the first football inspired look we’ve seen from the queen. In the first episode of Drag Race UK series two, Bimini paid tribute to their hometown of Norwich by rocking a Norwich City FC thong bodysuit with thigh-high boots. The look landed them in the bottom two but Bimini fought back to make it all the way to the final, and stands by the quite frankly iconic look.
They wrote on Instagram: ‘As a Queer person, stereotypes in school were detrimental in preventing me expressing who I really was and this look was a big f*ck you to that! 🖕‘Drag is about taking the p***. We mock stereotypes and parody it. I was always made to feel less than because I wasn’t good at football, and even though I would try and pretend I liked it, I had no idea about the bloody offside rule. Honestly, the fragile masculinity I would endure on the daily was triggering.
