The follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Netflix movie will be set in Barcelona, and arrives on our screens soon
Back in 2018, before our appetite for unrelentingly bleak plague movies unsurprisingly fell by the wayside,You'll remember it told the story of a blindfolded Sandra Bullock trying to navigate two kids to safety, while the world around them had succumbed to some sort of mass suicide pandemic. It was very, very bleak. Well, good news for all those who think we haven't suffered enough: there’s going to be a sequel.
Amid all the chaos, Malorie manages to escape to a safe house and gives birth to a baby, and takes another baby to care for when its mother is exposed to the creatures and dies. The film ends with blindfolded Malorie and the kids, Tom and Olympia, using birds to predict when the entities are near, and making it safely to another community, away from the Very Bad Things.Not exactly. It’s been described as an “extension” of the original, so same problem; different country.
Producer Chris Morgan said: “The result is an intense, unexpected survival story with familial emotion and heart. I can’t wait for audiences around the world to see the surprising mysteries that unfold on the streets of Barcelona.”Directed and written by Alex Pastor and David Pastor, the film is Spanish language, so the cast is primarily Spanish.
