The final trailer for Black Myth Wukong is one of the best video game trailers I've seen in a very long time.
is one of those games you hear about every now and again and think “Oh yeah, that game looks cool, I wonder when it’s finally going to come out?” Years pass, every now and then a trailer or some gameplay footage drops. But it feels distant, like a wave cresting out to sea. Black Myth Wukong like, and it’s truly one of the most impressive video game trailers I’ve seen in ages. Check it out:
That’s pretty epic, right? Everything about this trailer works. You see the gorgeous, sprawling world and all its hoary old monsters and dancing monkeys. You get a taste of the combat against both normal enemies and bosses . The music really sets the tone, and then the trailer gets all crazy with monkeys hopping in front of the camera, drums beating, giant magical beasts, blood-drinking cats, slithering snakes . . . I’m in awe.
The game’s story is rooted in Chinese mythology, and based on the ‘Journey to the West’ one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese Literature.
