The 12-year-old's parents explained how their daughter came home “crying her eyes out” and claimed that a teacher compared her to a monkey. “She was saying she could not believe that this had happened and she was so embarrassed and ashamed,” her mother said.The parents, who did not want to be named, said they tried to explain to their daughter that it was not her fault but are concerned that what happened has really affected her.The mother, 33, added: “It’s so upsetting because I’m her mum and she goes to school to be happy and learn but she came home crying her eyes out.
The school spokesperson added: “We have been speaking regularly to the parents concerned to keep them updated. “At this stage, however, there remain some questions as to whether the language used was racially motivated or just a very poor choice of wording from someone whose does not have English as a first language.”
