Blackburn care home set to expand as new plans unveiled

Sarfraz Patel of SP Housing wants to increase the number of residents at Dixon House in Gorse Road, Wensley Fold

A Blackburn care home for adults with Downs Syndrome, autistic tendencies and learning disabilities is set to expand.

Now Mr Patel wants to amend that condition to allow for an additional four residents in need of supported care brining the total number of adult residents to 10. A supporting statement submitted with the planning application to Blackburn with Darwen Council by Khalid Khan Associates says: “The Home was operated by father and son partnership, and only recently closed due to the owners retirement.

“Below a Statement from Lencare Consultancy who work in partnership with SP Housing: ‘The Residents will receive tenancy from SP Housing to the rates of rent as stipulated by the local authority housing department.
