It's not just a pretty floor...
Blackpool SEALIFE is playing its part in a plastic pollution crackdown - with half a million plastic straws. The family attraction on the resort's Golden Mile has installed a environmentally-friendly floor, made from waste plastic such as straws, bottles and food packaging.
Recycle Bound resin is made from waste plastic which is then sorted, crushed and granulated down to grain and then mixed with Oltco’s resin to create the floor surface. The floor project is part of SEALIFE's wider marine conservation goals. Scientists estimate that up to 26 million tons of plastic ends up in the ocean each year, killing millions of marine creatures. Tony Marks, attractions manager at SEA LIFE Blackpool, says the venue is "committed to tackling plast8ic waste".
