En una publicación en redes sociales dijo que está “agradecido por cada momento” de su carrera. Griffin fue la primera selección de Los Clippers de Los Ángeles proveniente de Oklahoma en el 2009.
En la temporada 2018 lo enviaron a los Pistons de Detroit cuando sus habilidades comenzaron a disminuir e incrementaron las lesiones. Griffin, de 35 años, también jugó con Brooklyn y Boston. Promedió 19 puntos y 8 rebotes en su carrera y fue tercero en la votación a MVP detrás de Kevin Durant y LeBron James en el 2013-14.
