Blake scores twice as watfordfc U21s win away at Birmingham
Blake’s goals and enthusiastic running on the ball obviously caught the eye, but there was another impressive display from Collins, who showed neat touches when holding the ball up and also turning and running at the home defence. His late goal from the spot was just reward.
The Hornets carved out their first chance in the 32nd minute with a quick counter-attack. Touray broke through the middle and then slipped a smart pass to his right where Blake let fly, forcing home keeper Mayo to push his rising effort wide. Blake cut in from the left and a couple of chops and checks inside the box forced Blues defender Williams to slide in. The ball struck his arm, the referee pointed to the spot and Blake tucked away the spot kick.
Four minutes after the restart Collins did well to keep the ball in play on the right flank and then broke into the box. He had to check, but smartly rolled the ball into the path of Delyfer who smashed a shot into the side netting. Watford responded and a slick move involving the triallist, Blake and Collins ended with Delyfer releasing a shot that a Blues defender did well to deflect wide by throwing himself at it.
