Blink-182 performed their final concert of their European tour at Manchester's AO Arena

But that's exactly what 40,000+ fans who crammed themselves into the AO Arena over Sunday and Monday night did as 90/00s icons Blink-182 brought their resounding European tour to a close in Manchester - and in true pop punk-rock style.

Despite both the band and crowd's being older than their heydays, what the majority had come to see were those tunes that brought them such joy in the 90s and 00s - and they were not disappointed. Hoppus and DeLonge, sporting his trademark backwards red baseball cap, danced and jumped on the stage like they were back in 1998 - popping jumps and sliding guitar solos included - and the crowd were with them for every beat.

With the band being very much a trio, it would be easy for the drummer to take a back seat in any other group. Any other drummer isn't Travis Barker, though. It wouldn't be long after those up-to-date tunes that provided those in attendance with the memories that would stay most, though. On a rarity for the band in a set that was otherwise full of music, it was Hoppus' words when he spoke that provided the emotional heft on two occasions.
