Hit TV series Blue Lights bosses turned to a trainee solicitor to help them create a sensitive storyline they knew could deeply affect countless viewers of the show.

"There’s a mad irony in that the Happy character, in real life now wouldn’t be able to have his case resolved because of the British Government’s Legacy Act. At the prospect of learning the truth behind his family’s deaths, Happy Kelly played by Paddy Jenkins, lived up to his name on the surface while dealing with his demons silently.

As a solicitor, Jen’s storyline focused on a controversial legacy-related case involving one of the show’s much-loved characters, Happy Kelly. “I'd no idea when I started my traineeship two years ago, that I’d fine myself engaging with the creative team behind a global hit TV drama.
