After former presenter Diane Louise Jordan's husband died following a short illness, here we take a look at some of the tragedies faced by the Blue Peter stars...
For many of us, Blue Peter was a staple part of our childhoods. On our screens since 1958, we've seen a plethora of different presenters on the show.
Diane Louise Jordan- 1990-1996 The former presenter joined the show in 1990 and was the first black host on the series. She had a great rapport with her colleague Anthea Turner and was popular with viewers. Sadly, it was announced yesterday that Giles had died following a short illness. He was part of the Stringfever quartet who released a statement saying: 'Although Giles had not been well recently, we as a family are still in shock at his passing. The band will be taking a break whilst we make funeral arrangements.'
In 1984, they tried again but couldn't continue so just stayed in Majorca. Sadly, towards the end of his life, John was diagnosed with Alzheimers and died in 2017. When he left the show, pictures of Michael with a male stripper emerged. He rushed a statement out the next day to say that his past had been nothing more than a phase, telling the Mirror at the time: "I confess that when I was younger I did have affairs with boys., I was just experimenting."
