They'd only just been released
Blue Planet Live viewers were left in awe by the underwater spectacular showcased on Sunday night.
Live from various locations around the world, Chris Packham and Steve Backshall gave us so many reasons to believe in the beauty of the sea and call for something to be done to protect our oceans and life in the final episode. However, over on Heron Island in Australia with presenter Liz Bonnin, we were shown just how horrible mother nature really can be when the call of the food chain beckons.Liz was helping six turtles be released into the wild when the seagull appeared
As the co-host was releasing some tiny little turtle hatchlings into the sea alongside Janine Ferguson, one seagull only saw dinner.‘There is one animal that has captured our hearts and our minds more than any other, that is the green sea turtle,’ Liz innocently said as six hatchlings were set free on the sand to make their pilgrimage to the sea for their first swim.
Liz added rather awkwardly, right as the gull made its move: ‘They’re going to spend at least 100 years on in our oceans if all goes well.’
