Horrifying footage has shown the moment a BMW erupted into flames in the street in Tameside on Wednesday afternoon (January 8). The blue BMW was seen engulfed in flames along Dukinfield Road in Hyde as onlookers watched on and fire crews raced to the scene. Emergency services including police and fire crews were seen blocking the road in both directions amid the response. Pictures of the dramatic incident were shared across social media.
'The back end of the car set on fire so the driver pulled over and it burst into flames,' one witness said. 'I managed to get out in time. He said he smelt smoke.' Another said on social media: 'The driver is okay, just shaken. My son was the one who called the fire brigade. Driver said the back end just went into flames.' Pictures taken after the blaze show how the BMW was left completely scorched, with the blue paintwork severely damaged by the flames. Smoke could be seen billowing from the open doors and windows of the burnt out vehicle as fire crews surrounded the scene. Further details have not yet been confirmed.
