A man was held by police after a car ploughed into a number of parked cars and a house leaving behind a trail of destruction.
A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a damage only road traffic collision and driving while unfit through drink/drugs. He has since been released under investigation.One eyewitness, who lives on Whitelands Meadow, wrote on a local Facebook group: "We all woke to a massive bang at 3.40am and looked out to see a car had crashed into a house and a lamp post. Police and fire engines came within minutes and took him away.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service told the ECHO: "Crews were alerted at 3.52am and on scene at 3.57am. Two fire engines attended alongside Merseyside Police and Scottish Power.
