Police said they received a call about 12:30pm to say the boat was taking on water in an area of the lake near Yarralumla, in the city's inner-south.It's not yet known what caused the boat to sink, although police said the cruise boat experienced suspected equipment failure.Boating incidents on Lake Burley Griffin are rare but there have been some notable incidents, including in 2007 when a sailing boat caught fire and sank.
In 2011 another boat sank after colliding with a submerged log and in 2009 the charter vessel MV Wandering Pelican sank to the bottom of the lake.Photo shows A police vehicle parked out the front of a house, with the crime scene cordoned off by tape.Photo shows Elon Musk raises his hands to his sunglasses as Donald Trump, wearing a MAGA cap, stands behind him.Photo shows A police vehicle parked out the front of a house, with the crime scene cordoned off by tape.
