Major hopeful Bob MacIntyre admits he’ll be hooked on the Euros while aiming to make it a Tartan Army dream double over in America.
MacIntyre will be dialled in for Pinehurst as he looks to keep up his hot streak on the back of his maiden PGA Tour win in Canada last week that secured his place at the US Open. But he admitted the Euros will be the perfect distraction during his down time after spending last weekend’s wait watching shinty.
MacIntyre is big Scotland fan but he has a Tartan Army of his own. The Oban hero had incredible backing in Hamilton last week with plenty of Scots and ex-pats and he got a kick out of hearing about supporters in Portugal last weekend for the Gibraltar clash huddled around televisions for his epic win.
“I’m struggling to make the cut here. But look, I try my best week in, week out and that’s not going to change. But the support I’ve got in Scotland’s incredible and I don’t know what to say other than thank everyone. He said: “Yeah, it was good. I mean, obviously going into Sunday, a lot of things had to happen for me to win that tournament. When you look back at it now, like, lay it all out, I needed a 61 on Sunday maybe even to get a playoff.
