BREAKING: Body found in search for boy, 15, who went missing in river
A body has been found in the search for a teenager, 15, who went missing after getting into difficulty in the River Tees.
The alarm was raised shortly after 5pm on Monday after he entered the water at Broken Scar in Darlington. Durham Police confirmed this morning that his body was found shortly before midnight. A spokesperson said: ‘Formal identification has yet to take place, but it is believed to be the body of a 15-year-old boy.
‘His family have been informed and are being supported and our thoughts are with them at this tragic time.’The boy’s death is not being treated as suspicious and he has not been named by police.Several services were involved in the search for the teenager, including Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, the North East Ambulance Service, Teesdale and Weardale Search and the Mountain Rescue Team.
