A body has been discovered in the search for former England rugby union star Tom Voyce, who was tragically swept out to sea during Storm Darragh. Although formal identification has not yet been completed, Voyce's next of kin have been informed.
While officers located Voyce's car, extensive searches initially failed to find the 43-year-old. A large-scale operation was undertaken involving Northumbria Police's Marine Section, the National Police Air Service, drones, dog handlers, volunteers from the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue team, as well as Voyce's family and friends.
Voyce earned nine caps for England between 2001 and 2006, scoring 15 points.
