A huge search operation was launched after a man entered the River Eden beneath Wetheral railway bridge on Sunday evening . Cumbria Police said they were called to the scene shortly after 8pm following a 'concern for welfare'.
Formal identification has not yet taken place and officers said the family of the man being searched for have been made aware of the developments. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
