Officers have now confirmed that a body has been discovered in a wooded area near Kilmahog in Callander
Police carried out extensive searches in the area with mountain rescue teams drafted in to help find the missing pensioner, who was from Falkirk.
There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances relating to the death. In December we told how despite combing CCTV footage, no trace of the pensioner had been found prompting a fresh plea from his granddaughter Amy Rooney. “So he could be anywhere by now. Can everyone please have a wee think to see if they have seen him and also look at dash cams on cars and vans etc. I just hope he's safe. He must be somewhere.”
"Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of 75-year-old William Hogg from Falkirk, who was last seen in the Callander area on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, have been informed.
