Police in Northern Ireland are appealing for information after a body found in Spain is believed to be that of missing man John George. The 37-year-old from Belfast last made contact with his family on December 14th.
Police in Northern Ireland have reiterated their appeal for information after a missing man's body was recovered in Spain. John George , also known as John Hardy, from West Belfast , first travelled to Alicante in Spain at the beginning of December, and last made contact with his family on December 14, when he was expected to drive to Benidorm. On December 18, he did not board his flight home to Belfast , and was reported missing.
His family and friends travelled to Costa Blanca to search for the 37-year-old and on January 7, a body was recovered. In a statement, the PSNI said they were made aware yesterday that a body recovered in Spain is believed to be that of missing man John George. Detective Inspector Jennifer Rea said: “My thoughts are, first and foremost, with Mr George’s family at this distressing time. “Our dedicated Family Liaison Officers continue to provide support to the family, and we continue to work closely with international law enforcement agencies. “I am keen to reiterate our appeal for anyone with information that could assist the Spanish Investigation Team with their enquiries to please contact us on 101.” Photos and footage, including CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage, can be shared with the Police Service through the Major Incident Public Portal at https://mipp.police.uk.
