Police were called to the scene on Tuesday afternoon and it resulted in severe travel disruption between Preston and Colne
Officers were called to a stretch of track close to Colne station shortly after 3.30pm on Tuesday . British Transport Police were responding to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
A BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line close to Colne station at 15:35hrs following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
