Formal identification has yet to take place, however, the family of David Simpson have been informed. Officers are treating the death as unexplained but it is not believed to be suspicious.
A body has been found in the River Clyde in the search for a missing Lanarkshire pensioner who vanished from a Lanark street.
David Simpson, 77, was reported missing from the St Leonard Street area of the town at around 11.30am on Sunday, September 8. Police investigating the disappearance say that a body of a man was recovered from an area of the river near Crossford at around 12.10pm on Monday, October 21. A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 12.10pm on Monday, 21 October, the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde at Crossford in Lanarkshire. The death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious.
