The FAA is investigating a potential manufacturing quality lapse on Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner after Boeing admitted that inspection records were falsified.

A new Boeing 787 Dreamliner is seen between the main runway and the Boeing Delivery Center at Paine Field in Everett, Washington on Tuesday Dec. 15, 2020. Paine Field is across the street from the Boeing Factory where the 787 is assembled. The green colored planes in the background are 777’s.

Boeing said its engineers have established that the lapse does not create “an immediate safety of flight issue.” “Our engineering team has assessed that this misconduct did not create an immediate safety of flight issue. But it will impact our customers and factory teammates, because the test now needs to be conducted out of sequence on airplanes in the build process,” Stocker added.
