Boeing faces ongoing troubles as a new whistleblower flags assembly problems with the 787 Dreamliner's fuselage.
The whistleblower has claimed portions of the 787 Dreamliner’s fuselage are inadequately secured and may potentially rupture during flight.Trouble seems never-ending for the American aircraft maker Boeing. Adding to its worries, a new whistleblower has come forward, raising concerns about its assembly process that could lead to its planes breaking ‘mid-air’.
The engineer claimed these sections, sourced from various manufacturers, exhibit slight variations in shape where they intersect, complicating the assembly process. However, because they are relatively newer materials, there’s limited understanding of their endurance under the prolonged strains of flight. Engineers refer to the resulting wear and tear as fatigue, posing safety risks if material failure occurs.
Barnett, 62, spent more than thirty years working at Boeing’s North Charleston facility, before retiring in 2017 due to health issues. Following two deadly disasters involving its 737 MAX aircraft in 2018 and 2019, Boeing came under heavy criticism.
