Boeing's Starliner launch was halted due to an automatic abort just minutes before liftoff, delaying the much-anticipated first crewed flight.

Boeing ’s Starliner space capsule was unexpectedly halted before its highly anticipated first crewed test flight. The astronauts were aboard and prepared for liftoff when a computer abort system malfunction led to the postponement.

A second attempt in 2022 was successful. However, it also encountered a faulty pressure valve and other engineering issues. “We got really close today. I know it’s a little disappointing, we were all excited. This is kind of the way spaceflight is,” Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s commercial crew program, toldAccording to ULA Chief Executive Tory Bruno, the glitches could be caused by “either a hardware problem or a network communication” issue between three computers that control automated launch systems.
