Boerne’s Dylan Perez, Jackson Grimes and Campbell Jackson have the Greyhounds looking to make the state tournament for the first time since 2004.

Dylan Perez 's first two seasons with the Boerne baseball team were marked by agony. As a freshman, Perez was hampered by a hamstring injury, while his sophomore year was shut down by a fractured rib. But his health hasn't been a problem this season as he has led the Greyhounds to within two wins of their first state tournament appearance since 2004. “It's been one of my only seasons where I've completely played through,” Perez said.

“Jackson Grimes has been killing it for us all year on the mound, and in playoffs, he stayed the same way,” Perez said. “I mean, he shuts teams down every time he's on the mound, and it's huge for us.” In the postseason, Grimes has been the Greyhounds’ Game 2 pitcher, while Jackson has started series openers. “Going into Game 1, just having that confidence and then getting the win gives the rest of the team confidence,” Jackson said.
