Newmont, the biggest gold producer globally, spun off Newcrest as its Australian subsidiary in the 1960s, and is now trying to buy the ASX-listed miner back. Newmont lobbed its revised bid on Sunday. It offered 0.38 of its own shares for every Newcrest share on an indicative and non-binding basis, having already been rejected on an earlier approach.
