A NEW cemetery will be developed in a five-hectare lot in Barangay Malingin, Bogo City in northern Cebu to allow indigent families from all religions to avail of a decent and proper burial for their departed loved ones.
The cemetery, which the city government described as “modern and inclusive,” would not only accommodate deceased members of the Roman Catholic Church but also cater to members of other religions and denominations. The city has two existing public cemeteries both located in Barangay Gairan: the Old Corazon Cemetery, formerly known as Bogo Municipal Cemetery, and the Catholic Church-run New Corazon Cemetery.The new cemetery will have at least 3,000 burial niches, which could be used within five years before the remains will be transferred to the bone chambers. It will also feature a crematorium and columbarium.
