'He will be sorely missed by all at Wanderers'
Bolton Wanderers legend Roy Greaves has died at the age of 77. In a statement issued by the club on Monday , they confirmed the former midfielder had passed away.
He is second on the list of all-time appearance-makers for Wanderers, behind Eddie Hopkinson. He started out as a forward for the Whites before becoming a central midfield player who helped them win the Third Division title in 1973 and the Second Division championship some five years later.
Greaves went on to spend two seasons in the States to play for Seattle Sounders in the North American Soccer League before returning back to the UK as a player and coach at Rochdale, before settling back in Farnworth. "Wanderers will pay tribute to the pair at Sunday’s home televised League One fixture against Wrexham."
