Emergency services cordoned off the area on Govan Road after a 'suspicious' item was found in a car park. They have since reopened the road with police saying the issue is 'resolved'.
A suspicious item found in a Glasgow car park prompted the evacuation of staff at the nearby STV building as the bomb squad rushed to the incident last night.
The item was found in a car park in Govan Road near the South Rotunda at around 6.40pm on Tuesday . Emergency services rushed to the scene and a cordon was put in place as officers from Police Scotland closed Govan Road at Lorne Street, extending to the Clyde Arc Bridge. A Police Spokesperson said: “Around 6.40pm on Tuesday, 17 October, 2023, police received a report of a suspect item in a car park in Govan Road, near the South Rotunda, in Glasgow. Officers are in attendance and a cordon is in place as a precaution. "Govan Road at Lorne Street, extending to the Clyde Arc Bridge, is closed with diversions in place. The EOD is in attendance. No residential properties have been evacuated.”"Govan Road at Lorne Street, extending to the Clyde Arc Bridge, has been reopened following a police incident in a car park on Govan Road. The matter has been resolved and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
