Emergency services were called to Harriet Street and Albert Drive following reports from terrorised residents that dozens of fireworks were being set off near windows and cars.
Bonfire Night chaos erupted in Pollokshields as thugs launched fireworks at vehicles and moving traffic despite a heavy police presence in the area.
Dozens of police officers closed Harriet Street as firefighters worked to extinguish a fire which engulfed a grey Volkswagen Golf. Locals watched as yobs continued to let off rockets just yards away as crews used a hose on the vehicle, reports the Record. It comes as plans for a control zone fell through after Glasgow City Council failed to implement a ban after forgetting to submit the paperwork in time for the Guy Fawkes celebrations. The ban had been planned in response to previous disturbances which saw he area terrorized by youths firing pyrotechnics at people, police, and houses.
