U2's Bono, British conservationist Dame Jane Goodall and Hollywood star Denzel Washington are among 19 individuals set to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest US civilian honour, this Saturday. The award will be presented by President Joe Biden, recognizing their 'exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavours'.

Bono, whose real name is Paul David Hewson, has previously been honoured with France's highest cultural accolade, the Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2013, was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2005, and received an honorary British knighthood in 2007.
