Pics reveal boozy Brits' antics at the races as they soak up the sun
BOOZE-FUELLED Brits love to soak up the sun and take in the action at the races throughout the warmer months.
Photographer Peter Dench spent two years snapping a series of photos documenting the scandalous antics of punters at racetracks in his collection called The English Summer Season. The amazing images include snapshots of the Epsom's Ladies' Day, the Queen's Cup Final and Royal Ascot — all of which have developed a reputation for fun, fashion and full-blooded competition.
Dench said: "The events I've portrayed were once the preserve of the rich upper classes, but through the years, have become open to a much broader audience."With this reportage, my intention is to capture the humour, the entertainment and the downright craziness of the scenes I have encountered in a light-hearted but truthful manner."
The work shows spectators indulging in outrageous shenanigans in the sun-kissed scenes of plush hospitality offered by the UK's prestigious venues. All the photos will form part of a display that will be shown at the Wex Photo Video Gallery in London between April 30 and June 28.
